Tamilnadu State Centre

It is an educational foundation that transforms a student into an expert in the industry. Institution of Engineers (India) Based in Chepauk, Chennai and is a pride of the nation. After the formation of the Tamilnadu State Centre in 1922, the Institute of Engineers (India) has gained momentum throughout the nation where many wishes to become a part of it. The state centre is being administered by a committee which is comprised of a Chairman, Honorary Secretary and Corporate Members who are elected from total 15 engineering disciplines including Architectural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Environment Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mining Engineering, Production Engineering, Textile Engineering, and Metallurgy and Materials Science Engineering.

Institution of Engineers is common known as Tamilnadu State Centre and has Fifteen local centres that functions at Madurai, Coimbatore, Neyveli, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Kalpakkam, Ranipet ,Tuticorin, Hosur, Kanchepuram, Tiruvallur, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Thanjavur and Erode. The state centre has a total 24169 corporate members. The sole objective of this centre is to disseminate the Engineering knowledge by conducting a number of technical activities which includes lecture meetings, workshops, all India seminars, symposiums, national conventions and international conferences.

Library of Institution of Engineers (India)

The Tamilnadu State Centre also boasts a full fledge library which is quite vast and holds more than 8000 Engineering books of all disciplines. The best part in this library is that, it has some of the rare books as well that provides immense knowledge in engineering. Many other books are also available in this library including Technical Journals which was published by the Head Quarters.

Membership Forms

The centre provides opportunities to people in five different ways where one can enter and serve his knowledge dedicatedly. Membership forms are available from the centre or one can even download it from their official website. Application form for Fellow category, Member category, Associate Member, Member Technologist and other categories are provided on the website. Besides, forms can be taken for change of address or replacement of identity card, for transfer from one engineering division to another, for students in various categories, and for empanelment of Arbitrators.

Apart from representing India in the Engineers Mobility Forum, the Institution of Engineers India has achieved prominence in the Commonwealth Engineers’ Council (CEC), the Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), World Mining Congress (WMC), the Federation International du Beton (fib) and the Federation of Engineering Institution of South and Central Asia (FEISCA).
